Introduction
Hello, Cut or Tap readers! As we finally reach the end of the six-month Silver Tempest format, the long awaited mid-season rotation will be occurring, along with the introduction of the new block, Scarlet and Violet.
With many consistency cards such as Quick Ball, Scoop Up Net, Oranguru, etc, rotating, many people have shifted to a Mirage Gate-based Lost Box deck, full of tech attackers, a ton of energies, and Radiant Greninja for consistency. Despite winning the 3100+ player Champions League (CL) in Aichi, the Mirage Gate builds I have tested have felt very weak, so I opted to look back to the first Lost Box deck to see success outside of Japan: Tord’s uber-consistent Sableye/Radiant Charizard (SableZard) build that won Peoria, and I updated it to match the tempo of the post-rotation format.
I believe this is the best way to play Lost Box, as you gain significant deck space by cutting a lot of the energies and Mirage Gates, which allows your deck to be significantly more consistent. Furthermore, in testing, it is surprisingly not that difficult to get a Turn 2 Sableye attack, and with Hawlucha, you can quickly get ahead of your opposing Lost Box or Gardevoir opponent. In a lot of these games, you can run your opponent over quickly, and in the late game, you can chain Radiant Charizard attacks to take important knockouts once your opponent is fully set up. While it may be weird, a lot of this consistency comes from the ability to have all four Comfey in play, which allows you to get up to 10 in the Lost Zone quickly, and not be punished by not having the bench space to make crazy plays, as the necessary combos with this deck only need a few cards. With that said, onto the list!
Insightful article, thanks for posting!
