Welcome back, COT subscribers! The final weeks of this Silver Tempest Standard format cannot come any sooner. Decks like Lugia, Mew Vmax, and Lost Zone Box have had a chokehold on the format, making meta calls mostly fever dreams – although I will admit that Galarian Weezing claiming both a Regional win and a 2nd place was not on my bingo card. If anything, this proves the strength of the Abilities in our top decks, warranting an expansive Ability lock concept. Thankfully, G-Weezy is hitting the bin for Rotation on April 1st, leaving an awesome opportunity for the newer format to run wild with Ability combinations. Speaking of rotation, Phinn and I have been testing rotation for around two weeks, and our base lists have come miles. I have certainly enjoyed the breath of fresh air and can’t wait for our trip across the pond to EUIC, hopefully ending with coveted #DDGWIN (Hunter edition).
One of the best records from our early Scarlet/Violet testing has come from none other than the top dog, Lugia Archeops. Lugia’s power will be spoken about for years to come, and unfortunately April 1st rotation isn’t going to put a damper on its expansive Limitless page. The list I’ll be sharing, from the mind of Phinnegan Lynch with minor tweaks from my suggestions, has been performing excellently into our expected meta for EUIC. The engine used is slightly different than the Japanese lists played in Aichi and the lists played in Taiwan. Details on matchup strategies, explanations on card inclusions, and breaking down the rotation losses should give you all an educated start to Lugia in the new format.
I don’t see Zinnias as much but I love it. This list is my favorite I’ve seen. Eager to see the EUIC run Hunter💪🏼
