Introduction
Hello, Cut or Tap readers! My name is Andrew Gantner and I will be competing in Day 1 of the upcoming World Championships taking place in early August. In this article, I will talk about my top three picks to play for the competition.
As of now, I have narrowed down what I am considering to three choices: Lost Zone Box Kyogre, Lost Zone Giratina, and Arceus Giratina. A World Championships meta is very diverse, and I predict that there will be a majority lead of Arceus variants. This is because Arceus is a speedy deck, and it has a very easy time walking away without a tie.
The World Championships is very strict on ties, with the requirement to make Day 2 being 18 or more points (needing either six wins, or 5-0-3 at the very least). As you can see, the only way a tie can help out on your tournament run is if you end up with five wins and three ties. Therefore players will land on an Arceus deck as they play for Worlds. The decks I have selected as my top three picks all have a good matchup vs Arceus or are Arceus; these decks also have a great meta spread, only having a couple of completely bad matchups total.
