This article is the second part of Tanner Drabek’s analysis of the Ancient Box archetype for the upcoming Temporal Forces format. Part 1, looking at the deck’s construction and Tanner’s current list, can be found here.
For EUIC, we’re going off our earlier assumption that the meta spread will be similar to that of Japan. With that, it is still a very wide meta. Normally, I would only be looking at the five or six most popular decks. However, with this tournament being the first one after rotation, and City League data only being able to help us to an extent, we’re going to have to set our scope a little wider, as we will have both a very wide and very unpredictable meta, at least in regards to what will be popular versus what will only amount to a drop in the bucket. Assuming a wider meta is also for the best, given the sheer size of the tournament. With over 2500 players registered, there’s bound to be a lot of variance in what we may see throughout the tournament, and being prepared for more decks will only serve to set us up for greater success overall.
Without further ado, let’s look at the most prevalent decks currently in Japan.
Great article and excellent thought process
